Intro

In this course, I’ll outline some helpful tips and even lay out some resources to get you started with your new endeavor.

Please, be aware that results will vary. Some businesses/markets are easier to break into, while others are more difficult. Please do independent research outside of this. Knowledge and awareness are great tools for making yourself successful.

There are a few principles that have been a huge help to me and my ongoing success. They are in no way, “new” or groundbreaking, but they are tried and true by many successful people in different industries. I’ll share them with you here and we’ll go into greater detail as we move through this course.

Once you have an understanding of these principles, I'll use them to help you get your business planned, registered, funded, and ready for well, business!

Find your audience.

Your audience can be anyone and everyone and as broad or as narrow as you want. But there are pros and cons to each.

Also, a very important part of understanding your audience is knowing your marketing approach and style that will work.

This can be crucial when designing a logo, branding, marketing new merch or content, literally everything can be traced back to knowing your audience.

Know your reason.

Why are you doing this? Why will you continue doing this? Is is sustainable? How can you make it sustainable if it’s not?

This fuel is brighter than the one I started with.

So, what’s your reason? What’s your fuel?

Be consistent.

Consistency is probably one of the hardest, easy things to do. You can be bad at something and consistent and still win.

Be consistent with content. If you’re a chef, always be doing something. You have it easy because you literally have to eat. Film your meal prep. Post it. If you’re a tattoo artist, see if your clients and or shop will allow you to film your process. Post it. We live in a digital age where you can post and share your content with the world in a matter of seconds. Use it. But more importantly, be consistent. The beautiful thing about consistency as well is, you get better at things you do more of. But make sure you’re holding yourself accountable and staying disciplined. This is what makes it difficult sometimes. One of my favorite phrases to keep myself consistent is “Stay hungry.”

Hungry people HAVE to keep working and hustling. If they don’t, they don’t eat.

It can be easy to forget this when you’re not in “survival mode”. Don’t forget it.

Gain and USE resources.

One my biggest habits I had to break was stockpiling resources. They do you no good if you don’t use them. Imagine being a doomsday prepper with a basement full of food and water, but you starve and suffer from malnutrition. Use your resources when you need them.

Resources range from manufacturers, printers, suppliers, etc.

but they can they can also include people with experience, tutorials, discounts, ideas and untapped markets.

These are all resources that you can and will come across. Just stay the course, treat everyone as a professional, even if it’s someone you don’t want to work with. Treat everything as an opportunity, even if it’s not for you.

Often times I’ve “traded” resources I didn’t need, to people who had a resource I needed.

For example, I give someone the info of a food supplier, and they supply me with their printer.

A good thing to keep in mind, resources can and will expire.

You may have an untapped market that you’re waiting for the “right time” to corner.

Well, while you’re waiting, someone with an imperfect idea and timing, has made it theirs.

Now you’re second to the party. Use your resources when you need them. Remember, an imperfect idea at the right time, can be better than the perfect idea that’s too late.

Rest is not quitting.

In the most violent and physical straining tests of stamina and strength there are rest periods.

Boxers and fighters have rounds they rest in between. That doesn’t mean they are quitting or accepting defeat. They are only accepting that they are human and rest is the ability to allow yourself to compete over a longer period of time.

I'll go into these principles in greater detail as well as get you started on building, registering, and making your business legitimate.

With all of this info, advice, and resources, you'll already have way more than I ever had starting out and that's the goal of this school and the lessons!
